… so I returned to my first great love: the English language.
But first things first
My enthusiasm for the world of finance was sparked during my training as a banking professional and after graduating I enjoyed working as a customer relationship manager and investment advisor for several years. However, despite my love of numbers, my passion for languages persisted. So I started to study English part-time and first successfully passed the most demanding exam of the Cambridge University (Certificate of Proficiency).
But my appetite was not satisfied! So I went straight on to the next course and prepared for the state exam for translators specializing on economics, which I passed at the first attempt in 2004.
From the banking industry to SMEs
It was with mixed emotions that I moved from the world of finance to the world of industry to pursue my passion for the English language.
Fortunately, it turned out to be the right decision. Working for various medium-sized companies, I have not only been able to put my language skills to good use, but have also gained valuable insights into business management as an executive assistant, as well as extensive specialist knowledge in all relevant areas, from purchasing to sales. And once again, finance and accounting were my favorite areas.
Taking the leap into self-employment
There came a time when I decided to combine my two passions, English and finance. Working as a freelance financial translator has given me exactly this opportunity every day for many years now! Since 2004, I have had the pleasure of assisting clients around the world with their business and financial translations. Whenever I can dive into translating annual financial statements or a fund report for my clients, I'm happy.
Continuous professional development is essential and a natural part of my job. This is the only way I can keep up with the sometimes rapid developments in the financial sector for my clients. For example, I have completed additional training as a financial accounting specialist (IHK) and regularly attend seminars, conferences and events in the fields of translation and finance. Lately, I completed two multi-week courses in FinTech, cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology and am continuing my education on the topics of digital assets and decentralized finance (DeFi).
Speaking of passion: The advancement of the translation profession is very close to my heart. This is why I have been an active member of the German Association of Interpreters and Translators (BDÜ) and the American Translators Association (ATA) for many years. I was active for many years in the Baden-Württemberg regional association of the BDÜ, among other things as treasurer and chairwoman of the board.
I also volunteer at the Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg Chamber of Industry and Commerce as an examiner for the business English department.
My in-depth expertise, combined with my unique wealth of experience ensures optimal results and professional financial translations of the highest standard.
Competence and passion – a winning combination for you!
